As I watched the inauguration, my heart was overcome with relief to be rid of George W. Bush. In some ways, I can scarcely believe we survived his administration. How much has been lost these past eight years, not only for us but for the whole entire world? Who can say. We only know that the price is incalculable, though we somehow survived to the threshold of life after bush. Many times I didn’t think we would, and yet we did.

The time has arrived for people to be arrested and dragged before courts of law, and I’m not talking about the little people. I want to see big names in handcuffs. I want to see their hair disheveled and their lips muttering, and their beady eyes darting around like cornered rodents. I want to see 3″ headlines across every front page announcing stunning revelations of corruption at the highest levels of government, banking, media, think tanks, and corporations. I want to see people glued to their teevee sets with their jaws hanging to their knees as the truth washes over them in wave after wave of gushing, relentless, bracing reality. I want to see people walking around in a daze as they are forced to comprehend how many lies they have been told all these years. I want to see media personalities break down on teevee as they admit their complicity and beg for forgiveness.

That would be the beginning of justice. Will I be disappointed? Oh yes, but I put it out there anyway. I set the bar high, not to be disappointed, but because people deserve justice. They have been killed. They have been harmed. They have been lied to and stolen from and murdered, and this corruption has to end. Do not compromise your expectations of justice because you don’t want to look like a fool. No! The shame rests on those who deny justice, not on those who demand it.
