…watching this video of Mike Huckabee endorsing Bush, via “God”, at a 2004 Republican Governor’s Association dinner. Just another example of a religious conservative conflating his own will with God’s.

Though Huckabee was clearly “joking” at this 2004 dinner, the audience deeply appreciated his great stroke of comedic genius. He affirmed them in their self-righteousness, and that feels sooo gooood. Only idiots go around questioning themselves and beating themselves up.

Do you see how this works? The person wants something badly…so therefore, God must want it, too. And if you are one of the extra special people, like Mike Huckabee or Richard Roberts, you can simply talk with God directly and get the OK. Then you can tell people He said it was OK, and go for it, and everybody is happily fulfilling God’s will! It’s so easy!!
